Pulled out the knitting needles today. I think everyone's getting a scarf for Christmas. Like it or not. (kidding). Picking up the motorhome from being winterized (sleep tight over the winter little guy) and putting in storage. Then trying to finish putting up Christmas stuff. I know, I know, it's really early, but if we don't do it when we can, it sneaks up on us and we scramble at the last minute. Besides, if you're going to go to all that work putting it up, why not enjoy it as long as you can?
If you read this, please post me a comment--I'd like to know how many are reading so I can decide on weather or not I want to continue it.

Send your own ElfYourself eCards

Thursday, November 13, 2008

Oh my. Does this mean we're old? or just blind. Or do we need to make an appointment at the eye doctor?
The other big dilemma is the fact that I am really liking the David Archuleta CD. Does that make me extremely juvenile? Please leave me a comment and opinion. THks

awaiting zuzu

Each year, the kids anxiously await the return of ZUZU the elf. Check into "the elf on the shelf" online or at Hallmark stores, I think. The kids have named him Zuzu (after the young girl in It's a Wonderful Life) and he returns on Thanksgiving each year. He watches them during the day and reports on their "naughty or nice" status each night to Santa. Then each day he returns from the North Pole and they have to find him  in his new spot. They have to be on their best behavior in order for Santa to get a good report (this part only lasts a few days, but we do use it to our advantage as often as possible). So they have begun anticipating Zuzu's return and have told me they miss him dearly. I kind of miss him also--It seems he really has become another member of our family.
I hope I can FIND him. Tee Hee.

Yummy

So our chef extraordinaire friend, Scott, and his lovely wife, Kim had us over for dinner. This is his distasteful t shirt:

This was his incredibly tasteful dinner:

I'm sure he would be happy to post his recipe for chicken piccata here if requested.
Thanks guys--had a great one!

Monday, November 3, 2008

No pics today--been laying on the couch with my foot up. Seems as tho I've sprained my ankle. Went to the Dr. and no broken bones. He put in my history that the cause of the accident was "I fell off a barstool". Even though that is always highly possible, that's not exactly what happened. I was sitting at our kitchen bar (on a barstool) and turned around to go to the coffee pot. The toe of my rubber-soled slipper stuck on the floor while my foot continued going forward and over. Ouchie. Anyway, lots of swelling, but no major harm done. I am trying to suck all the sympathy I can out of it!

Run Forrest Run

Forrest and Jenny. Went to the neighbors Halloween party--shout out to B and J for a great time! Great costumes-seems as tho we get so much more creative the older we get. Love to post them here, but I'm not sure that would be prudent. If you were at the party and want to see photos, e mail me and I'll get them to you:) The decorations will all come down today and I'm sure there will be a Christmas tree in our living room in the very near future. Officially 'tis the season.

Nina (and Don) getting their diploma at beginning obedience class. She did very well and likes to show off! (so does Don)
We are preparing for beggar's night tonight. Looks like the weather is going to be great.
By the way Jim, we did use a dremel tool to carve our pumpkins.

Our pumpkins.
We always make a big deal of our pumpkin carving. We try to get the kids involved, but their interest lasts about 10 minutes, then they go off and do their own thing. After they're completed, they always come look with"cool" as their response. I hope someday they will look back and know how hard we worked to give them a great memory of halloween.

Testing Testing

I'm afraid this will be one of those things I think I will keep up with, but end up not doing so. As mentioned in my profile, I hope this is a place I can share photos of the little things in our life. Maybe someone will enjoy it, at very least it gives family and friends a place to check in on us.
